Wuhan Yichang Chamber of Commerce Facilitates Another Donation from Marswell to Wufeng
04 Jun,2021
“A single spark can start a prairie fire.” Marswell’s charitable助学 efforts have spread from the provincial capital, Wuhan, to the Tujia mountain villages of Wufeng. On May 31, 2021, at the behest of Gao Huxing, the initiator of the Marswell Scholarship Fund under the Hubei Project Hope, Gao Aimin, Secretary-General of the Wuhan-Yichang Chamber of Commerce, and Gong Zhaohui, Director of the Office, drove over a thousand miles to Dасунshu Primary School in Changleping Town, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, Yichang City, to once again carry out the “Charitable Assistance for Education, Warmth for Songxiao” donation and scholarship activity. The donated items included student uniforms and classroom work clothes, basketball hoops, table tennis and badminton equipment, remote-controlled airplanes, remote-controlled cars, tangrams, Rubik’s Cubes, modeling clay, calligraphy sets, and other learning supplies, as well as washing machines and infrared thermometers. Song Fangrong, Deputy Director of the Education Bureau and Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, witnessed the donation. Dасhongshu Primary School in Changleping Town, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, currently has 86 students. Most of these students live an average of 10 kilometers from the school, and 80% are boarders; among them, children left behind by migrating parents and those from single-parent families account for 50%. In 2019, with the assistance of the Wuhan-Yichang Chamber of Commerce, the Marswell Scholarship Foundation of Hubei Hope Project conducted a field visit to Dasonshu Primary School in Wufeng County and decided to provide targeted support to the school. Over the past three years, Gao Marswell, the founder of the foundation and general manager of Hubei JiLi Food Co., Ltd., has led teams of caring entrepreneurs to the school on three occasions to inspect teachers’ offices, students’ classrooms and living environments, hold discussions with teachers to understand the school’s development needs, and determine specific support measures based on actual conditions. The foundation has customized school uniforms for students, replaced all bedding in student dormitories, and provided additional teaching equipment and living facilities, completely transforming the appearance of the school. “We must deliver the gifts to the children before June 1!” Gao Huoxing stated. “Our goal is to ensure that the children enjoy a happy Children’s Day.” The foundation has decided that Gao Huoxing will lead a team to another donation site in Zhuxi County, Shiyan City, while Gao Aimin, Secretary-General of the Chamber of Commerce, will head a team to Wufeng to complete the donation. With the presence of representatives from the Wufeng County Education Bureau, the school conducted an inventory and acceptance inspection of the donated items. A brief donation ceremony was then held, during which the national flag was raised and Young Pioneers performed the salute. Principal Tang delivered a welcoming speech, expressing gratitude to all the caring individuals behind the Marswell Scholarship Fund. He encouraged the students to remain confident in life, set lofty ideals, and strive with determination, repaying the kindness of the donors with excellent academic performance. He also hoped that, upon entering society, the students would stay true to their original aspirations, be grateful to those who have helped them, take responsibility, dedicate themselves, and make greater contributions to society. Wang Enzhi, a fifth-grade student, delivered a letter of thanks on behalf of all the students at Dasonshu Primary School, describing the joy and happiness the students felt upon receiving their uniforms and various gifts. School teachers stated that this donation drive not only allowed the children to feel the warmth of society, but also strengthened their conviction that “knowledge changes destiny,” planting a seed of kindness in their hearts and adding a vibrant, unforgettable chapter to their lives. We are confident that, many years from now, when these children grow up and pursue their own paths—no matter where they are or what roles they hold—they will always remember the care and support extended to them by generous donors, and they, in turn, will carry forward this spirit of compassion without ceasing.
