Jiang Shenghua, former director of the Cadre Academy of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee; Qiu Congjun, first-level researcher at the Hubei Federation of Industry and Commerce; Tan Dongming, chairman of the Investment Company of the Hubei Agricultural Development Group; Hu Xiangyang, chairman of the trade union of the Wuhan Office of the Yichang Municipal People’s Government; Fang Lin, deputy county magistrate of the Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County People’s Government, and other dignitaries attended to provide guidance. In addition, more than 70 philanthropists, including Gao Qingjiu, president of the Hubei Crane Association, and Zhang Jun, supervisor-general of the Wuhan–Yichang Chamber of Commerce, took part in the event.

Gao Meng, a renowned host and chief announcer at Wuhan Radio and Television Station, was invited to serve as the emcee for the event.

Zhu Xiaoning, rotating chairman of the Marswell Scholarship Fund, delivered a welcome address. He recounted how he and Gao Marswell first connected through charitable work, and outlined the journey of the Caring Entrepreneurs Alliance’s evolution into the Marswell Scholarship Fund, before reviewing the fund’s achievements over the past five years. He noted that the Marswell Scholarship Fund has received strong support and guidance from the Provincial Project Hope and the Provincial Youth Foundation, which has helped it develop in a healthier manner. The fund is dedicated to helping students from impoverished families gain access to quality education, enabling them to realize their dreams and strive for a better life. Over the past five years, the fund has provided clothing and living allowances to 1,000 students, allowing them to focus on their studies at school. He expressed gratitude to all those who have supported and donated to the fund, emphasizing that their generosity and compassion are the driving force behind our continued support for these students. He also thanked the students who have benefited from the fund, noting that their perseverance in pursuing their dreams despite adversity serves as the best testament to the fund’s spirit of selfless dedication. He stated that over the next five years, the Marswell Scholarship Fund will continue to support students who are committed to learning and personal growth, bringing hope and opportunity to even more students and making a greater contribution to our society.

In 2018, Marswell began providing assistance to Zhuxi in northwestern Hubei Province, and in 2019 its charitable efforts expanded to Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County in southwestern Hubei. Every year, the Marswell team travels thousands of miles to Zhuxi and Wufeng for on-site research and funding. At the event, video clips of Shengziping Primary School in Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County and Eping Township Central School in Zhuxi County were shown, allowing attendees to experience the children’s vivacity, optimism, and resilience. “Marswell’s popcorn is so delicious!” “The school uniforms we’re wearing were donated by Uncle Gao from Marswell!” “Uncle Gao and Auntie Hao, we miss you so much!” These heartfelt words from the children were filled with gratitude toward the Marswell Scholarship Fund team.

In the short video, amid the children’s shouts, Gao Marswell, General Manager of JiLi Food and Chairman of the Marswell Scholarship Foundation, took the stage to deliver a speech, introducing the background of the scholarship team’s development, the changes at the school, and his personal journey from doing charity alone to leading a group of people in providing educational assistance with compassion.

In May 2013, Gao Marswell bid RMB 35,000 for a Beckham-signed soccer ball to support children with autism. In June 2018, a charity auction of the Beckham-signed soccer ball, accompanied by an on-site donation ceremony, was held at the East Lake Hotel in Wuhan, with all proceeds earmarked for rural primary schools in the impoverished mountainous areas of Zhuxi County, Shiyan City. In 2019, the Hubei Project Hope Marswell Scholarship Fund was officially established, and that same year it provided assistance to Dapengshu Primary School in Wufeng County. Over the three years of the pandemic, the fund’s efforts to support education never ceased. The school used to be housed in temporary prefabricated buildings, but now it has a brand-new main building; previously, the walls of the student dormitories were peeling and the bedding was brightly colored, but now they have been replaced with new iron beds, fully furnished with bedding donated by Marswell; formerly, the students’ shower facilities were rudimentary, but now they are equipped with air-source water heaters, washing machines, and other amenities; and before there was no uniform, but now every student has a custom-made school uniform, and work uniforms have also been tailored for the teaching staff... During Gao Marswell’s report, a large screen simultaneously displayed side-by-side comparisons of the school before and after the assistance, moving many of the compassionate attendees to tears.

Over the past decade, Gao Maxing has led a team of caring entrepreneurs, building a volunteer network of nearly 500 individuals and providing support to more than 1,000 underprivileged students.

Every year, the charitable fundraising campaign attracts new donors. Gao Qingjiu, President of the Hubei Crane Association and Chairman of Wuhan Gaofeng Lifting Equipment Rental Co., Ltd., took the stage to deliver a speech. He said that the launch ceremony of the 2023 charitable fundraising for the Marswell Scholarship Fund allowed us to witness a beautiful moment shining with the light of humanity. Caring for the growth of children and adolescents and carrying out scholarship fundraising initiatives benefit both the present and future generations. Helping and encouraging children to successfully complete their studies is a continuation of social kindness and warmth, and it keeps the flame of mutual assistance burning brightly. When young people are strong, the nation is strong; children and adolescents are the hope for the rejuvenation of our country and nation, as well as the hope for the continued prosperity of our Party’s cause. He stated that acts of kindness will become an inexhaustible driving force for promoting traditional virtues. What we sow is a seed of hope, and what we will surely reap is vibrant vitality and national peace and prosperity.

Since the establishment of the Marswell Scholarship Fund, it has united a large number of caring people from all walks of life. A grand award ceremony was held at the event, during which 32 representatives of caring individuals were presented with the Project Hope Caring Award trophies and certificates of honor. Well-wishers present filled out donation forms, while those unable to attend made direct transfers to the Hubei Provincial Youth Development Foundation, turning the event into a sea of love. The leadership team of the Wuhan-Yichang Chamber of Commerce, along with its Party members and prospective Party members, donated a total of RMB 26,800; Gao Qingjiu donated RMB 10,000; Hao Jiegang donated RMB 3,000; and young Gao Haoyang donated RMB 100. Gao Weiquan, rotating chairman of the Marswell Scholarship Fund, entrusted relevant personnel to make a donation of RMB 100,000 on his behalf due to a business trip; Zhan Kelan from Hubei Ming’ertai Plastics Co., Ltd. donated RMB 5,000; Zheng Mingle from Wuhan Nanxin Technology Development Co., Ltd. donated RMB 10,000; Wuhan Chutian Weibao Financial Services Co., Ltd. donated RMB 5,000; Lin Chuncheng from Wuhan ChanHong Printing Co., Ltd. donated RMB 8,000; Zhu Xiaoning donated RMB 5,000; and four companies under Gao Marswell each donated RMB 10,000... Gao Marswell solemnly pledged that if funds prove insufficient, JiLi Food will cover the shortfall. It is reported that the Secretariat will coordinate with the provincial Youth Development Foundation to issue standardized receipts for charitable donations in Hubei Province.

Under the education assistance program, this year uniforms will be provided to Zhuxi Eping Township Central School and Wufeng Shengziping Primary School. On the occasion of International Children’s Day, two sets of summer uniforms will be custom-made for each student, followed by two sets of autumn/winter uniforms after the fall semester begins. In addition, a tailored suit will be provided for every teacher at both schools. Furthermore, Ouyang Jianhua of the Wuhan-Yichang Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Youzhi colorful water bottle for every teacher and student.

At the signing ceremony, President Gao Houxing signed agreements with Chen Jie, Principal of the Central School of Eping Township in Zhuxi County, and Guan Hongfu, Principal of Shengziping Primary School in Wufeng County. Both principals then delivered remarks of gratitude.

On behalf of Yu Bingshou, the rotating chairman of the Marswell Scholarship Fund, Ms. Zeng Rong from Wuhan United Rongtai Financial Services Co., Ltd. delivered a speech, sharing her impressions of participating in the scholarship program and outlining the foundation’s future development plans. The foundation will support the development of schools in mountainous areas and the growth of students based on the needs of schools and surveys conducted among entrepreneurs.

Fang Lin, Deputy County Mayor of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County People’s Government, expressed his gratitude to the Marswell Scholarship Fund and praised the slogan “By drinking one less bottle of fine wine, smoking one less cigarette, or skipping one lavish meal, we can help a poor student!” as well as the actions of caring individuals.

Hu Xiangyang, Chairman of the Trade Union of the Yichang Municipal Office in Wuhan, expressed his gratitude to the caring entrepreneurs for their charitable act of showing concern for Wufeng County in Yichang and for teachers and students in mountainous areas. He also welcomed entrepreneurs from the Hubei Project Hope Marswell Scholarship Fund and people from all walks of life who care about education to visit Yichang for inspection.

Zhang Hui, the rotating chairman of the Marswell Scholarship Fund, concluded with a speech of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the leaders and guests for their care and support, to all the kind-hearted people for their continuous companionship, to the teachers at the mountain schools for their dedication, and to the children for their growth and gratitude.
