Popcorn in 30 Seconds, 24-Hour Unmanned Operation: Self-Service Popcorn Vending Machine Debuts in Wuhan

17 Mar,2025

How long does it take to heat popcorn in an unmanned smart vending machine? The answer is: 30 seconds.

On March 16, a smart “pop” launch event—the global debut of the Marswell intelligent vending machine and the Future Lifestyle Trends Summit—was held in Wuhan. At the event, Hubei JiLi Food Co., Ltd. unveiled the world’s first end-to-end intelligent popcorn vending machine, which can heat a cup of warm popcorn in 30 seconds, offers six flavor options, and operates 24 hours a day without staff.

The JiLi Food team has been steadily advancing its intelligent transformation. After five years of intensive technological research, the company has successfully developed an intelligent popcorn vending machine that integrates on-site preparation, freshness preservation, and payment functions. The equipment developed by JiLi Food is equipped with several core “cutting-edge” technologies: it employs factory-level, fully automated, end-to-end on-site production technology, with an intelligent temperature-control system ensuring the optimal taste of the popcorn; it also features a UV sterilization device and biodegradable, eco-friendly packaging, aligning with the “dual carbon” goals.

At the event, JiLi Food entered into strategic partnerships with more than ten domestic and international companies, including Shenzhen Amoxi, Thailand Xinghui Tianxia, and Shaanxi Culture and Tourism Group, with a total contract value exceeding RMB 100 million.

Hao Yuhong, Chairwoman of JiLi Food, stated that the company will continue to deepen its tripartite strategy of “intelligent equipment + cloud services + data empowerment,” and plans to build a nationwide smart retail network within three years, so that technological innovation can truly serve a better life.

Gao Fu, vice president of the China National Ethnic Trade Promotion Association, believes that the launch of the Marswell popcorn vending machine is a successful example of supply-side structural reform in the popcorn industry.

It is understood that the “Charity Education” public welfare program was launched on the spot that day. Gao Marswell, General Manager of JiLi Food, pledged to donate RMB 0.01 to the “JiLi Marswell Hope Project Scholarship Fund” for every cup of popcorn sold. Based on the initial deployment of 10,000 machines, with an average of 20 cups per day and 300 days of operation per year, the annual donation could reach RMB 600,000.
